Majo Lares

Biography

Majo Lares is a painter and arts professional whose practice explores the relationship between color, emotion, identity, and human experience. She studied Cultural Management at ITESO University in Guadalajara, Mexico, and has developed a multidisciplinary career combining her studio practice with cultural management, arts programming, and artistic event planning.

Working primarily through painting, Majo uses vibrant color, expressive gestures, and layered textures to explore inner landscapes and the emotional experiences that shape personal transformation. Her work considers color not only as a visual element, but as a language capable of conveying memory, energy, and feeling.

Alongside her artistic practice, Majo has contributed to the cultural sector through her work with Street Sense Media, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit arts organizations, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, supporting exhibitions, programs, and artistic initiatives.

Based in Washington, DC, she continues to develop her painting practice while fostering connections between artists, institutions, and audiences through her commitment to the arts.
